FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The questions we are asked most often about UK licensing, our reviews, cookies and staying in control. Last reviewed 23 August 2026.
Is Index Casino Review a gambling operator?
No. We are an independent editorial publisher established in 2026. We do not accept deposits, hold customer funds, or offer gambling of any kind. Everything on these pages is review and comparison content aimed at adults aged 18 or over in the United Kingdom.
How do I check that a brand is properly licensed?
Open the Gambling Commission public register and search by domain name or account number. We publish the account number and a direct register link on every review — Betcrown is account 45322 and Bingo is account 48789 — so you can confirm it yourself rather than trusting a badge.
What does the Index Casino Review score actually measure?
Five weighted pillars: licensing and safety (30%), withdrawal speed (25%), fairness of terms (20%), customer support (15%) and mobile experience (10%). Withdrawal times are measured from our own funded accounts, not quoted from the operator.
Do you get paid by the brands you review?
Some outbound links are commercial arrangements. Those are agreed only after a review has been written and scored, and they cannot change a score, a ranking or a published drawback. Our full funding explanation is on the Disclosure page.
Who can legally gamble in the UK?
You must be 18 or over. UK-licensed operators are required to verify your age and identity before you deposit, and they must run those checks before you can withdraw. Anyone attempting to gamble under 18 is committing an offence.
What is GamStop and should I use it?
GamStop is the free national self-exclusion scheme. Registering blocks you from every operator licensed by the Gambling Commission for six months, one year or five years. It cannot be undone early, which is the point. If you feel your gambling is no longer under your control, it is the single most effective step available.
How do deposit limits work?
Every UK-licensed operator must let you set daily, weekly and monthly deposit limits. A reduction takes effect immediately; an increase must go through a cooling-off period. We test this on every brand and note in the review if a reduction is delayed.
How long should a withdrawal take?
To a UK debit card, a good operator clears within 24 hours once identity checks are complete. Anything beyond 72 hours without an explanation is worth questioning. Completing verification when you open the account, rather than at cashout, avoids most delays.
What do you do with the details I submit on the contact form?
We use them only to answer your message. We do not sell them, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass them to any operator. See the Privacy Policy for retention periods and your UK GDPR rights.
Which cookies do you use?
Strictly necessary cookies keep the pages working, and optional analytics cookies tell us which reviews people find useful. The banner lets you reject the optional ones, and rejecting changes nothing about what you can read here. Full detail is in the Cookie Policy.
Are your reviews kept up to date?
Every review is re-checked at least quarterly and re-dated when anything changes. If a licence lapses, the review comes down the same day. Spotted something out of date? Tell us and we will correct it within two working days.
Where can I get free help with gambling harm?
The National Gambling Helpline is free and confidential on 0808 8020 133, 24 hours a day. BeGambleAware, Gamblers Anonymous and GamCare all offer free UK support, and GamStop handles national self-exclusion. Our Responsible Gaming page lists them all.
Still stuck? Write to us at hello@indexcasinoreview.co.uk or use the contact form and a person will reply within two working days. 18+ only.
